readings are also available. Rather
than view Tarot Cards from the perspective of ' this is the outcome', I view them
from the perspective of 'what do we want to create as the outcome and how can
we do this' Cards
have been with me since my childhood. A small pack of playing cards given to me
by my grandmother marked the beginnings of a new game. I wove stories around the
lives of my dolls and my friends according to the card that fell.
My love
of the Tarot has never left me. I collect Tarot decks. I work with them for all
different reasons. I believe it is important to understand the art behind the
deck. I learnt this quite early in my study of Tarot. I
bought a beautiful deck called The Sacred Rose. I spent hours meditating with
this deck. It took me on wonderful journeys into my unconscious. I wrote wonderful
channeled pieces from these journeys. They would last for days. Some time later
I read, the artist behind this deck was versed in meditation techniques and that
is how she accessed the Tarot. I have never read this deck for anyone. It didnt
appeal to me as a reading deck. Another
favourite deck, Daughters of the Moon, I use as a ritual deck. It is a round feminine
deck which to me is sacred to the feminine. I rarely read this deck to others
either. It is my tool of truths. The
deck I read for others is the Motherpeace, another circular deck. This deck was
designed to heal people and after reading it for twenty years, I believe it does.
The
images in this deck offer the client a safe space to observe quite painful and
difficult circumstances in their lives. The images are not scary or forceful yet
have managed to access the truths that lie underneath. Working
with this deck as my tool, I feel confiident to discuss any situation that arises
because it will always present in a gentle maneagable manner.
Even though
I know Tarot readings are fun to have and quite interesting for entertainment,
I have a much greater belief in the use of the Tarot. The Tarot will access quite
quickly afflictions to situations be they personal or externalised.
I use them
to develop strategies to work through situations. Rather than view Tarot Cards
from the perspective of this is the outcome, I view them from the perspective
of what do we want to create as the outcome and how can we do this.
They are
fantastic to work with underlying issues with children who dont have the
verbal skills to explain what is going on. The children communicate through the
images that they can choose. I
dont apply rules to working with the Tarot. The more I experiment, the more
uses I find for them. Tarot
Classes Sharing my joy and love of the Tarot is a favourite pasttime. I have
taught Tarot over many years. My classes are informal, floor based and full of
playing with ideas. During
my classes I have come to notice there are three ways of exploring Tarot.
-
The Traditional Approach of Tarot coupled with reading in the plan of the Celtic
Cross Layout
- The
Process Orientated Approach where the client works with the cards to discover
information and modes of operating in given situations. In this way the reader
more often designs the layouts.
- Ritual
use where the reader uses the Tarot in creating rituals. The cards are a part
of the many tools brought together to symbolise the fusion of events or desired
outcomes. They become a great friend to the working Magician.
